Cycling to work brings numerous benefits to your health and well-being. That's why, starting from September 1, 2024, Action will offer the option of leasing a bike. Action will cover a portion of the monthly lease costs. Visit your local bike shop and choose the bike that suits you, whether it's a city bike, e-bike, mountain bike, road bike, or cargo bike. The Action Bike Scheme is not without cost, so read the conditions carefully and use the online calculator to determine the cost of the lease bike. This bicycle shop offers Lease a Bike.
Conditions for participating in the bike scheme:
Taking out a service package with a lease contract is mandatory. The service package includes insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and a maintenance package. You can choose from different packages, including the Basic or Standard package. For more information about the packages and their conditions, please refer to the Lease a Bike website.
Note: Keep in mind that the chosen service package cannot be changed during the 36-month lease contract.
For maintenance, repairs, and tire replacements, you can go to the bike shop where you ordered the bike or any bike shop affiliated with Lease a Bike. If you exceed the credit of the Basic or Standard package, you will pay the extra costs directly to the bike shop.
If you currently receive a commute allowance, it will be suspended during the lease contract period. However, you can claim the 'bad weather allowance' up to 15 times per calendar year, as detailed in the table below. This allowance is equivalent to the current commute allowance and applies only to distances of 10 to 20 kilometres.
For more information, please refer to the Action Bike Scheme (see downloads).
No, participating in the bike scheme will not result in a BKR (Credit Registration Office) registration. The leased bike is provided to you through Action.
If your preferred bike is not listed in the Lease a Bike catalogue, you can submit a request to Lease a Bike to have it added. Lease a Bike will then assess whether it is possible to include your desired bike and, if so, under any additional conditions. This way, you can still order the bike you want.
Yes, you can trade in your old bike at the bike shop to reduce the retail price of your leased bike. However, keep the following points in mind:
Yes, accessories can be included in the lease contract. This includes items such as a bike bag, child seat, helmet, and lock. However, rain and cycling clothing, as well as bike computers, are excluded. The total cost of the accessories cannot exceed 15% of the recommended retail price of the leased bike.
Please note:Accessories can only be included at the start of the lease contract. Once the lease term has begun, you cannot add accessories to the contract.
Further details and conditions for purchasing accessories can be found on the Lease a Bike platform.
If you retire before the end of the lease contract, the lease contract will be terminated early. In this case, you have two options:
For more detailed information on these options, please refer to Chapter 6 in the Action Bike Scheme (see downloads).
No, you are not required to have service and maintenance performed at the same shop where you leased your bike. You can go to any Lease a Bike affiliated shop for service and maintenance. Using your bike's frame number, the shop staff can directly process the costs of maintenance against your annual budget.
The phone number is (+31) 592-390471.
Four weeks before the expiration of the 36-month lease contract, you will receive an email with an offer to purchase the bike for its current market value (approximately 20% of the retail price).
Action is not involved in the purchase process; this is a matter between you and Lease a Bike. You should pay the purchase price directly to Lease a Bike via a bank transfer. Purchasing the bike after the regular lease term of 36 months falls under the Standard Acquisition Scheme.
If you choose not to purchase the bike, you are required to return it to the bike shop at the end of the lease contract for a final inspection. The bike shop will document the condition of the leased bike in an inspection form. Both you and the bike shop will sign this document
Further terms of the Standard Acquisition Scheme and the return protocol can be found on the Lease a Bike platform.
